We are recruiting for an Outreach Support Worker to join the team at our At Home programme at Highland Aftercare.

Right There is a charity working to prevent people becoming homeless and separated from their loved ones.

We’re here for children and adults who are living with the effects of poverty, addiction or broken relationships. Walking alongside people at home and in the community, we provide tailored support and form trusting relationships to help people feel happier, safer and more confident to live their lives.

Rooted in communities across Scotland for almost 200 years, we’re there for people going through tough times. Our work won’t stop until everyone has an equal chance to create a safe and supportive place to call home.

Our team at Highland Aftercare helps to end homelessness through providing a high-quality supported accommodation programme for individuals transitioning from temporary to permanent or other suitable long-term accommodation. The programme provides 24-hour supported accommodation and reach out support to young people aged 16-26 who have previous experience of living in a care setting.

Main duties & responsibilities include:

  • Develop positive, respectful and compassionate relationships with the people we support, focusing on their strengths and aspirations as individuals.
  • Have a high standard of professional integrity with colleagues and other professionals.
  • Establish clear professional boundaries with the people we support.
  • Engage with the young people helping them to find their way around the community.
  • Use your problem-solving abilities to enable them to participate fully in having their needs met and participate in opportunities to develop.
  • Support the young people to pursue meaningful activities such as hobbies and interests, linking in with community groups and access community facilities.
  • Support with tenancy sustainment including access to furniture, Universal Credit, establishing utilities, budgeting, tenancy responsibilities, shopping, cooking and any other skills that aid to independence.
  • Provide support and advice on the safety, security and general maintenance of their property.
  • Signposting to other appropriate agencies such as health services, money advice services and other support agencies.

We need you to be qualified to SVQ Level 3 H&SC or SCQF equivalent or be willing to work towards level this. We also need you to have gained experience of working in a similar role and to have an awareness of the effects of trauma.

Salary: SCP 19-22 (£22,498-£24,394 per annum)

What you can expect from us

  • The post holder will report to the Senior Support Worker and through them to the Service Manager.
  • Your normal working hours are an average of 35 hours per week
  • Annual leave entitlement of 210 hours holiday (equivalent to 6 weeks) pro rata per year in the first year rising to 280 hours (equivalent to 8 weeks) pro rata per year in the second.
  • You will be automatically enrolled into the People’s Pension in the month that you will complete 3-months of employment, provided you meet the auto-enrolment criteria
