We are looking for a highly motivated Research Associate to join the Brain Delivery group in the Neurotechnology section in the Neuroscience and Rare Disease (NRD) Discovery and Translation Area (DTA) at the Roche Innovation Center Basel. We are a multidisciplinary team focused on advancing cutting-edge technologies to improve the delivery of antibodies to the brain in order to develop novel therapies for neurodegenerative disorders. The successful candidate will work in an industry-leading Neuroscience department with an attractive portfolio of preclinical and clinical stage projects in CNS disorders.
Responsibilities:
Maintenance of human iPSC-derived cell types of the neurovascular unit, including generation and characterization of CRISPR gene-edited lines
Development of cell-based assays with a broad range of microscopy and biochemical readouts
Design and execute experiments independently and in collaboration with other groups to advance exploratory and preclinical projects
Analyze, interpret and thoroughly document data. Communicate results in team and departmental meetings.
Contribute to lab management and organization
Qualifications:
BSc/MSc in Life sciences (biology, biotechnology) or other relevant area with at least 2 years of wet lab experience
Strong experience with human cell culture, preferably using stem cells.
Expertise with molecular cell biology methods including WesternBlot, ELISA, confocal microscopy, cloning and transfections
Hands-on experience with fluorescent or luminescent reporters and/or sensors would be beneficial
Basic experience with image (e.g. FIJI) and data (e.g. PRISM) analysis software
Ability to independently design, execute, and analyze experiments.
Strong critical thinking, communication, organization, and presentation skills.
General:
Excellent computer-based data management and record-keeping skills; a background in basic biostatistical data analysis is a plus
Excellent communication skills to report your results to the team; good command of the English language is a must (speaking and writing)
You are a team player with a strong sense of accountability and willingness to learn.
You must like an independent working style and troubleshooting in a multi-departmental and international pharma research environment with the motivation to build your Matrix-leadership skills
